Frequently asked questions
How do i schedule an appointment?
Please visit the contact page to learn how to schedule a free consultation. You are welcome to reach out via phone, email, or text. A brief discussion of what you would like to work on is required before an appointment can be scheduled in order to verify that I can provide the appropriate level of service.
can you do VIRTUAL appointments?
I am able to accommodate virtual appointments via a HIPAA-compliant platform, but only to individuals located in New York State. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who may live a considerable distance from my office, for those who prefer therapy from the comfort of their own home, or for clients who are sick and concerned about spreading illness. This is typically not a good option for young children, however.
what is your cancelation policy?
Because appointment times can be in high demand, a scheduled appointment is considered an agreement that you will arrive on the designated day and time. You are required to cancel/reschedule at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. For late cancelations and no-shows, there will be a fee of $40. Clients arriving late for their appointment will not have their appointment time extended. Clients who frequently cancel might be asked to pre-pay when scheduling their next appointment.
what type of clients do you see?
The menu bar of this website outlines the types of issues for which I have the most skill and comfort, but it by no means is an exclusive list of issues I can help with. Contact me for a free consultation, and I will be glad to hear what you are looking to work on and have a frank discussion about whether my practice is a good fit for you. Because I am not affiliated with a Psychiatrist and I don’t offer 24/7 crisis coverage, there are certain conditions that are not in my scope of practice and would be more appropriate for a higher level of care. Greenleaf Mental Health Counseling PLLC does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, or national origin.

Greenleaf Mental Health Counseling PLLC was designed to accommodate children of most ages. The office features a large research-based play therapy room. At least one session alone with a parent or guardian for history taking and treatment planning is required and an adult caretaker is required to be present in the office during all sessions. Depending on the age of the child, the caretaker may be asked to be present in the play therapy room or to wait in the attached office during the session.

Will you be available after-hours?
I will typically not be available to take phone calls when the office is closed. For non-urgent matters, you may email me at greenleafcounselor@gmail.com or leave a confidential voicemail on the office phone and your message will be returned when the office re-opens. For urgent matters, please utilize your county’s crisis service provider via 988, visit an emergency room, or call 911 as appropriate.
is your office handicap accessible?
The office utilizes on-street parking which limits handicap parking, however the building itself is accessible to wheelchairs.
do you provide other professional services?
In some cases, Greenleaf Mental Health Counseling PLLC may agree to provide professional services, such as writing a letter attesting to your engagement in or completion of treatment, completing referral paperwork for an outside program, or meeting with other providers either in person or remotely. The fee for such services will be $40.00 per 15 minutes and this will not be covered by insurance. If you require any such professional service, please make the request as soon as possible to ensure that there is ample time to schedule or complete work in a timely manner. I will not testify in court without a subpoena issued by a judge.
